LeaveSlowFast © 1992 Chris Hames
--------------------------------
This is a hack to stop the $C00000- mem from being allocated unless
someone wants a big slice of memory (PC-Task). It resets your machine then
you should be able to do avail and still have all your SlowFast memory
available. The reason you might like to do this is that you will get about
480K available for your PC in PC-Task. You must be running Kickstart 1.2
or 1.2 or 2.04.
It is for machines with 512K Chip/512K SlowFast:-
Old A500's with A501's.
Old A2000's.
And various other machines with 512K chip / 512K (Slow)Fast.
Just run the LeaveSlowFast program and it should reset your
machine, then run the program that wants a big slice of memory (PC-Task)
and it should be able to allocate memory from the 512K block still free.
Now when you want your machine to go back to normal either run
LeaveSlowFast again and it will reset back to normal or switch off/on.
Notes:-
I refer to the memory as SlowFast as the memory at $c00000 is as
slow as chip memory unlike "True" fast memory.
I don't have such a machine configuration so if the program doesn't
work please provide details.
History:-
V1.0 First release.
